What is EFT?
EFT was founded by Gary Craig, a Stanford Engineer and performance coach. In the early 1990’s, Gary heard about a psychologist in California, Roger Callahan, who was having success with a meridian tapping therapy known as TFT or Thought Field Therapy. Gary trained in Thought Field Therapy with Roger Callahan and in 1993 he studied Dr Callahan’s most advanced procedure, Voice Technology. By the mid 1990’s Gary recognized, through his own experience, that the sequence of the tapping points really didn’t matter. He simplified Dr Callahan’s procedures and came up with his EFT technique which has profoundly touched so many people.
EFT is rooted in energy psychology, applying Ancient Chinese Medicine Philosophy, which focuses on the body’s energy grid or meridians. The energy meridians are pathways and nodal points (meridians and points) through which your Qi, energy or life force flows. According to Chinese Medicine, a traumatic event, negative thought patterns, or other experiences can cause a disruption in your energy flow through a stagnation or blockage in the Qi flow by causing a counter-flow to the normal, healthy Qi pattern. When your energy or Qi is imbalanced or blocked, physical, mental and emotional illnesses and disorders will arise.
Gary Craig discovered by employing these these philosophies, you would be able to tap specific acupressure points (points on the body’s energy grid or meridians) and thereby release the blockage and bringing your body’s energy flow back into a state of homeostasis.
When your brain reconstructs its cognitive processes, you no longer process thoughts or emotions the way you did before, meaning you can nullify the negative feelings or reactions you currently have, or have had for years, resulting in a neutral reaction to the same memory or situation when successfully employing EFT.
EFT has successfully treated PTSD, addictions, Phobias, panic attacks, anxiety, depression, ADD, Career disorders, IBS, headaches, Joint pains, hypertension, pain associated with fibromyalgia and may other conditions.
