What is Bowen Therapy?

The Bowen Technique is a system of subtle and precise Moves performed over  specific points on the muscles, tendons, nerves, and fascia using very gentle pressure. The Moves are performed using the thumbs and fingers with gentle, non-invasive pressure. A treatment consists of a series of specific sequences of Moves or procedures, with frequent pauses to allow time for the body to respond.

Bowen’s unique sets of rolling-type Moves stimulate the muscles and soft tissue of the body. No manipulation or adjustment of hard tissue or force is used. The most commonly reported experience of a treatment is that it is gentle, subtle, and relaxing. Some Moves will have a stimulating effect while others will be more sedating. Other Moves, called Stoppers, are used to block, reflect, or contain the energy in a certain part of the body.

It is believed that the Bowen Technique prompts the body to reset, repair, and balance itself, and clients report benefits of pain relief, improvement of function, and recovery of energy.

To attain knowledge, add things everyday.

To attain wisdom, remove things every day.
