A Look Back at History

The Chinese Lunar calendar marks the passage of time from three perspectives: Heavenly, Earthly and Human. These three aspects are called Stems, Branches, and Hidden Stems. The aspects are as changeable as the seasons and the rotation of the moon around the earth and the earth around the Sun. Each year also carries the polarity of Yin or Yang. This highly specialized system not only records the passage of time but can also be accurately predictive. A personal astrology chart is called the Four Pillars of Destiny and is a complex description of the influences of Heaven, Earth and Human at one’s birth. This information also provides the basis for “Luck Pillars” and “Special Stars” that indicate influences and tendencies throughout the human’s life on Earth. The Four Pillars are Year, Month, Day, and Hour of birth. Cities, towns, states, and countries also have these Four Pillars of Destiny. For a thorough understanding of one’s chart, all four pillars must be examined. Tendencies for health, wealth, relationships, and much more can be explored. Obviously, these aspects become more individualized when month, day, and hour are considered. If you were born in Tiger year(2010, 1998, 1986, 1974, 1962, 1950 or 1938) this year will be especially significant for you.

The Heavenly aspect of the year, the Stems, are expressed in terms of the Five Phases or Elements, Earth, Metal, Water, Wood, and Fire. The Earthly aspect, the Branches, is described in terms of the Animals of the Zodiac, following the twelve months of the Lunar calendar. And the human aspect is described in Hidden Stems within each Earthly Branch. In the Eastern Astrology System, there is a logical order of progression from year to year, following the creative cycle of the Five Element. Doing the math, each animal will repeat every 12 years, but paired with a different Element and Yin/Yang polarity. Then, every 60 years, one arrives at the same identical paring of Earthly Branch (Animal), Heavenly Stem (Element) and Polarity (Yin or Yang). For this reason, we will examine past years of Yang Water Tiger to help understand how these influences manifest in years past which will give an indication of the tendencies for this year. Of course, we are not the same as we were sixty years ago, but the energetic influence is quite similar, so we may observe some patterns as to what will happen this next year.

THE TIGER

Let’s begin with the Tiger!  The Chinese Zodiac Wheel reflects cycles of time divided into 12 parts. Unlike the Western zodiac where the sections of the wheel reflect constellations around the plane of the ecliptic, the 12 divisions of the Chinese Wheel reflect the energy and characteristics of phases of evolution and seasons of the year. These phases are also applied of the 12 months of the year, the 24 hours of the day, as well as larger sections of time. There is a story or myth associated with how each of the animals of the Chinese zodiac were chosen by the Supreme Deity, and Tiger always the third month of the year and the beginning of Spring.

The animal Tiger is the largest cat on earth and an apex predator. There is little difference in tigers throughout different regions. It is an incredibly strong animal, the force of its strike alone could kill you. The ancient Daoist saw the resolute and steadfast nature of Tiger as a symbol of great wisdom and strength. In the I-Ching, Verse #49, Revolution, Change the decision for the Fifth Nine is “The elder is as changeable as the Tiger. Before Divining, there must be sincerity.” This means that while the elder (sage, Wise one, leader) changes the thickness of its coat with the seasons (appropriate, necessary change responsive to Nature), its stripes don’t change and provide continuity which will benefit his/her followers. Indeed the tiger’s stripes are pigmented down to the skin.

Tigers are nocturnal and for the most part solitary animals. Tigers do not roar like lions. From a human perspective, it seems they know their power, strength and beauty and don’t need to vocalize about it! However, clever tigers are capable of mimicry or mimicking the call of their prey to lure them for the kill. Their striped coat provides excellent camouflage as they patiently hide and wait to ambush their prey instead of chasing it as lions or Cheetahs. They prefer to attack from behind. In fact, in the I-Ching, Chapter #27, Nourishment (Jaws, Symbol of Sustenance) the decision for the Fourth Six is in part, “Like a Tiger stalking its prey, one’s own desire causes eagerness. Without auspiciousness.” This means that as one seeks to attain one’s goals, it is necessary to be as the tiger: patiently waiting in hiding and being able to discern the perfect moment to strike and reach your goal. Striking too soon because of emotion is without auspiciousness.

If you are a Tiger year person, you are likely to be creative, daring independent, competent and a good planner. They are ambitious while creating a safe and sure future. The person is strong, inspiring, friendly and careful. They like to stand out, yet tend to be loners. They are adventuresome and work tirelessly toward a goal. On the negative side, Tiger person can be selfish, dominant, cold, calculating and haughty. Tiger has to cultivate patience and selflessness. Tigers can be stubborn and brash, possibly willing to use whatever means to achieve their goals.

Famous people born in the Year Of The Tiger:

President Franklin D. Roosevelt, President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Ramon Novarro, Richard Branson, Tom Cruise, Tony Oliva, and William Hurt Hồ Chí Minh, Esai Morales, Harriet Harman, Jane Pauley, Yuna Jodie Foster, Joaquin Phoenix, Laura Pausini, Tom Cruise, Carrie Lam, Alan Shearer, Chuck Berry, Lady Gaga, Usain Bolt, Stevie Wonder, Queen Elizabeth II, Leonardo DiCaprio, Dayanara Torres Delgado, Demi Moore, Lisa Surihani, Dr. Phil, Ed Harris, Elliot Gould, Emilio Estevez, Marco Polo, María Félix, Marilyn Monroe, Martin Short, Patti Smith, Mel Brooks, John Schlesinger, Oliver Reed, Pamela Stephenson,

Tiger energy translates to the energetic qualities of the year as a fast-moving year, possibly filled with lots of drama. There will be fortunes swiftly acquired as well as fortunes lost in an instant. If correctly employed, this strong energy can be used to overcome great challenges. Universal strategies for the year will include learning to move on one’s goals at the proper time, learning your own strengths and weaknesses, becoming comfortable alone with yourself while not becoming reclusive, and learning that hiding unseen in the bushes is as important to the hunt (job/task/project) as striking to ambush the target (goal/prize/accomplishment).

YANG WATER

The heavenly influence for the year 2022 is Yang Water. Yang is big, expansive, powerful. Yang is the active principle, the bright (sunlit) side of a mountain. Yang is function and male. In Chinese cosmology, Yang is paired in duality with it’s opposite, Yin. Yin being small, contraction, receptive, inactive, the dark side of the mountain, form and female. These opposites are not stagnant. They are forever changing and metamorphosing into one another. They are viewed in relationship to each other. Full Yang is high noon, at which time, the Yin begins to rise and continues to rise until Full Yin at midnight when the Yang again rises. The movement through the seasons follows a similar path with earth at Full Yang at the Summer Solstice and Full Yin at the Winter Solstice. A person with Yang Water Day Pillar should experience a boost this year.

The image of Yang Water is the ocean or a powerful river. This energy adds to the strength of Tiger. For balance, a strong Fire Element is needed and missing in Tiger. There is a HIdden Fire element this year, but it’s not strong enough for an ideal balance. Tiger is the birth of Spring when it is still cold and Yang has not built much strength. Tiger corresponds to 3 am to 5 am. When the Sun has not risen and the Earth is cold and dark.

We understand we cannot overcome the power of the ocean, and the best plan is to learn to float or swim with the current. Sometimes the current takes us places we didn’t intend to go and the challenge is to navigate these changes. This is in stark contrast to Yin water which is a gentle rain or heavy fog or condensation. Yang Water’s power must be recognized and used for good. It is not the gentle rain that nourishes the garden.

Water also symbolizes the emotions in the human being. This year will possibly be fertile ground for emotional upheaval. Going into the third year of a worldwide pandemic and so many families navigating loss and death, negotiating grief for ourselves and others, kindness and compassion will be a major factor this next year. Likewise, polarization caused by philosophical, religious, or political opinions can become devastating to the health of a community or nation if we allow those feelings to divide us like a mighty river divides landmasses. Instead, we could build boats and bridges together with which to traverse the waters and meet together in harmony and peace. The solitary tiger can teach us healthy self-reliance and provide a secure home base from which we reach out to others in love and understanding.

The virtue expressed by the Water Element is wisdom. We gain wisdom by overcoming our fears. Some philosophers say fear is the opposite of love. How does Water do this? A clue comes in Stanza 8 of the Dao de Jing:

The supreme good is like water,
which nourishes all things without trying to.
It is content with the low places that people disdain.
Thus it is like the Tao.

In dwelling, live close to the ground.
In thinking, keep to the simple.
In conflict, be fair and generous.
In governing, don’t try to control.
In work, do what you enjoy.
In family life, be completely present.

When you are content to be simply yourself
and don’t compare or compete,
everybody will respect you

-Stephen Mitchell translation

This stanza describes the concept of Wu Wei – Action without action. Action should be in accord with the natural way. Simply be yourself. The classic metaphor of wu wei is a river. Water makes great changes as it flows through the land, carving the earth, smoothing rocks and moving boulders in its path. Yet it does nothing but act as water. Powerful things happen when the natural order is followed.

One very auspicious aspect for this year is that Yang Water combines favorably with Tiger in Chinese cosmology. Tiger’s native Element is Wood and in Five Element Theory, water nourishes wood. It is said the year is Water over Wood. When the Heavenly Stem of the Year nourishes the Earthly Branch, it lends an auspicious aspect for the promise of the year’s energy. As a note, this past year of Yin Metal Ox was inauspicious in part because Ox is naturally Earth. Earth creates Metal, thus draining the energy of the Earth Ox. This year, however, the Tiger Wood is nourished by water will provide a positive creative impulse for growth in all facets of life. Creativity is not limited to the arts!

FIRE!

One of the best and most auspicious elements of 2022 is that the element of Fire is back into the yearly makeup of energies. While the influence is not strong, it is present. Fire is warmth, the Sun, the Heart energy. Fire is happy, optimistic energy, the spark that gives prosperity and action. Fire also symbolizes order due to the fact that a fire will burn in an orderly fashion dictated by the path of its tinder or kindling. A well-known principle in Chinese philosophy is that balance is best. Too much or too little of anything is not desirable. We have not had any Fire in the yearly energy since 2019. Pig, Rat, and Ox years were devoid of the Fire Element. When Fire is missing, it allows for the negative, excessive effects of the other elements to take hold. Without the balance of Fire, the Water element can bring too much cold, fear, and out-of-control emotions. Without the warmth of Fire to melt Metal into useful tools, the Metal becomes cold and harsh. Metal in human thinking is rigid, dogmatic, and unbending. It’s easy to identify ways our emotions and perhaps rigid thinking have been evident in humanity these past few years as we navigate the global pandemic. Fire creates Earth. Without Fire, Earth element is weak and the very basic needs for life can suffer. Wood creates Fire, and Tiger’s Native Wood contains a hidden Fire stem. While it’s not a strong influence, the spark of Fire will be helpful in all sectors. The Hidden Stem represents the Human element in the year;y makeup. The spark will be good for business and industry as well as in human relationships. This is a welcomed change from the past three years! Fire won’t be an exceptionally strong element until Snake year, 2025.

THE HEXAGRAM

Each of the 64 Hexagrams of the I-Ching are assigned to a year. Please click here to read a broad overview of the I-Ching.  This is a different ordering of the hexagrams than found in the most commonly used oracle these days. Most of us are familiar with with the King Wen arrangement of numbered pairs of Yin and Yang hexagrams. The arrangement that reveals the Hexagram for each year is a spiraling pattern arranged by Earthly Branches and Heavenly Stems such that for every 60 year cycle, the same Hexagram falls in one place in the cycle. 2022 is the 39th year in the sixty-year cycle and its hexagram is #45. After year 60 years, the cycle will begin again but the 39th year in this and all other cycles will be Hexagram #45, Cui.

The hexagram #45 is called Cui. Its structure is Dui, (Lake, Valley), over Kun, (Earth). The upper trigram is considered to be the outer trigram, and the lower one the inner.

The inner trigram can be you, or any aspect of you, the querent. It can represent strengths or weaknesses, maybe subconscious desires. It’s what drives you from within. This inner trigram is Kun, Earth. Kun is about nurturing and receiving or giving. The earth does not act on the rays of the Sun, it merely receives. Kun is dark and fertile. It contains everything you need, but you must act in accord with the Ways of Nature. If you take too much, not enough, or the wrong things, you will not survive. It’s the image of Mother Nature as creator/destroyer.

When Earth is below or inside, it’s about acceptance/receptivity bringing the necessary results. This is not the time to make judgments. It’s about allowing actions, ideas, or resources to shape and form your inner life. Become the earth and hold the space for yourself and others for growth and change. Receptivity is not weakness, not inaction.

The outer trigram is some aspect of the outside world or how you behave towards it. It represents an action that must be taken to achieve the desired result. It’s consciousness or direction of action. If you are consulting the Yi by asking a question, the answer will most likely be in this trigram.

The outer trigram is Dùi, Lake or Valley. Dùi means ‘open’ or ‘loose’. Dùi is the marsh or valley that is a holding place for all sorts of things to meet, exchange energies and grow. Dui is the empty space inside a cup. This is the most important part of the cup. On the Earth, wind swirls in valleys to slow its speed so it is no longer dangerous. Water pools in valleys and low places so it can be used for nourishment by the inhabitants of the earth. For humans, Dui is about connections, community, magic. It leaves room for all the emotions, all the thinking. All are welcome, but upon entering, all are invited to change.

When Lake/Valley is above or outside, the lower trigram expresses itself in accord with the properties of Lake. Lake is a mixing pot for better or worse. The outcomes of Lake/Valley will depend on how you function and relate to the group. Is this group friend or foe? Are you enjoying this group or are you treading on eggshells and looking for a way out? Are you maintaining your boundaries or going along to get along? Are you present for your fellow travelers or do you treat them as objects or servants? This hexagram would have you proceed carefully with high intentions, paying respects to Source.

So in Cui, our approach to the question (in this case, the year 2022) is to understand we are the earth holding the melting pot that is the valley or marsh. Our approach for success is receptivity and openness. We are in a community with many diverse people, places, or things. Lack of judgmentalism will bring peace and success. The responsibility is to hold space for all things. Notice where the smooth places are and the rough places. Understand the bowl of the valley is not a scary place. Different is not necessarily bad. Victory comes through understanding rather than fighting, but you advance or withdraw in the consciousness of the good instead of base emotions.

Today there are many translations of the ancient I-Ching texts with commentaries by sages of ancient China. Most notably these texts quote ancient seers and scholars including Confucius (551–479 CE), and King Wen (1112–1050 BC). The name of the Hexagram in Chinese is usually seen in these texts written in an ancient form of script called Oracle Bone Script. It is a form of writing no longer used in the current-day Chinese language but the modern characters are descendants of this script.

The interpretation (called a “Decision”) for Hexagram #45, Cui is translated as “Advantage in being. Assemble, expansion. The king serves the temple. Fruitful to see a great man. Expansion. Fruitful to determine. Use big sacrificial bulls, auspicious. Fruitful to proceed probing. resolute. Employing a great sacrifice is auspicious. Advantage in having somewhere to go.”

-Translation – Alfred Huang

This is about seeking harmonious relationships. It is good for the King to pay homage to the ancestral temple. And there is advantage in seeing and seeking an elder who is commonly equated to a wise one. Caution is called for in approaching the tasks with reverence and being willing to make a sacrifice. “having somewhere to go” simply is about having a purpose for your action, not acting in haste, and without good reason.

For avid students of the I-Ching, at least six other related hexagrams can be studied to reveal deeper meaning from Hexagram #45.

ASTROLOGY

A word about how Yang Water Tiger Year will affect you personally.

As previously mentioned, a BaZi chart contains 4 pillars and in this review, we are dealing with only the Year pillar. While there are some things to be learned from the year pillar alone, your individual natal chart must be consulted to understand the full picture. Clashes, as well as fortuitous alignments, will occur with Tiger and any animal in the chart whether it appears in Year, Month, Day, or Hour. [Unabashed self-promotion – I can do this for you! Contact me through my website.]

In general, those born in Monkey year (or have Monkey in another pillar) are said to clash with Tiger. The Snake is said to help with this clash so having some reminder of this clash in the form of a snake statue, photo, or locket could prove helpful. [Unless the object is blessed by a priest, it is simply a good reminder that you must exert extra caution for the year.] Clashes can bring turbulence, emotional upheaval, accidents, and general inhibited success. Sometimes, one can avoid the negative aspects of a clash with awareness, preparation, and care.

If you have Snake and Monkey in your chart, they will combine with Tiger for a penalty relationship in the area it falls. These three Earthly branches combine to create a tremendous amount of Fire. This may be good for the chart, or it may be bad for the chart depending on the other elements. NOTE: The Earthly Branches also represent months of the year, days of the week, and hours of each day. Therefore these three Branches may meet on a month, day and hour.

Those born in Tiger year are said to “insult” the Tiger by being born in that year. (This is true of most of the Animals in the Chinese Zodiac.) So care and caution should be taken during the year. Guard your health. Read contracts over several times before signing. Ensure your travel plans. Avoid lavish spending that would put your finances in a bind.

Dog and Horse people are most compatible with Tiger and should have an easy year unless other things in the chart indicate otherwise. Wherever these animals appear in your chart, you can expect smooth flow of energy.

For the Rat, Dragon, and Monkey Day Pillars, Tiger is called the “Traveling Horse.” Traveling Horse is a symbol of traveling, changes, migration. If the traveling horse is an auspicious deity to the person, then the person can have luck with movements, such as a promotion, business travel, moving house, or having a great vacation If the traveling horse is an inauspicious deity, then it will bring hardship to the person. Monkey is such a situation since Tiger and Monkey clash. This clash could bring such circumstances as restless movement, hard work without income to match, constantly moving house, inability to ground oneself. If Tiger is not in your natal chart, you may encounter it in the month of the year, or in your luck pillar.

Tiger Year is the Nobleman year for people with Yin Metal year or day pillars. The Nobleman is a benefactor, mentor, or helper who provides support and rescue. If you are born in these recent years, 1951, 1961, 1971, 1981, or 1991 you may expect to have someone who fulfills this role in your life suddenly show up!

There is ample information online regarding the fortunes of specific Year Pillars if your year pillar was not mentioned here.

HEALTH

If Eastern Asian connections between mind and body interest you, you might like this article from the US National Library of Medicine: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5585554/

Of all the aspects of the New Year, perhaps predicting any health aspects is the most difficult, and general prognostications can be upsetting only to be proved false when the person’s entire chart is considered. For that reason, it’s stressed that these general tendencies for the year may or may not be applicable to your personal situation.

Tiger is a native Wood Element. Wood is about growth and expansion and relates to the Liver and gall bladder in Chinese Medicine. The Wood element is strongest in Spring and weakest in Fall. In general, guard against excess in Spring and deficiency in Fall.

In general, having a Wood Element year means liver/gall bladder issues are more pronounced. The liver has important roles in proteins for blood plasma production, converting excess glucose, storing iron, regulating blood clotting, clearing the blood of poisonous materials, producing bile, and much more. The gall bladder stores and releases bile to the body which helps the digestive system break down fats.

In Chinese Medicine, the liver and gall bladder house the emotions of anger, rage, resentment, irritation, and depression. The gall bladder meridian is the second-longest meridian in the body and makes many twists and turns as it runs from the head to the feet. It is therefore though this meridian influences the ability to make changes in one’s life and also make healthy decisions.

The liver also houses the virtue of compassion or benevolence. Compassion leads to understanding which leads to overcoming anger. In the Five-element cycle, Water feeds Wood, thus Water’s virtue of wisdom helps us gain compassion.

Keeping your liver and gall bladder healthy involves getting plenty of water, exercising, and refraining from excess alcohol consumption, and refraining from eating excess fatty or sugary foods.

The Heavenly Stem for the year is Yang Water. In Chinese Medicine, the water element is represented in the body by kidneys and urinary bladder. These organs function to eliminate waste from the body. In the body/mind connection, waste can be viewed as toxic thinking, negative or obsessive thought patterns, and emotions. In Chinese Medicine, the kidneys create and store Jing, or the physical substance the body is made of. If the kidney is weak, the prognosis for good health is bleak. In Chinese medicine, the kidneys assist in breathing by aiding the lungs with inhaled breath. The kidneys directly assist digestion by sending energy to the spleen, pancreas, and stomach. They also guide sexual function and reproductive capability. Because the kidneys play such an important and essential role in the body, they are seldom considered excess.

The Water Element is strongest in the Winter and weakest in Summer. The kidneys play an important role in warming and cooling the body. One way to keep the kidneys strong in winter is to keep the physical body warm, especially the low back where the kidneys are located. Obviously in all seasons, one needs to drink adequate amounts of water. Blueberries, cranberries, raspberries, leafy greens, and apples are good foods for the kidney. Cauliflower and red bell peppers are also good. The kidneys respond to the salty flavor such as is found in miso, seaweed, and some seafood. Moderation is essential with salt. Your doctor should be consulted with any dietary considerations.

The kidneys house the emotions of fear, insecurity, and loneliness. They are also the seat of our willpower. Therefore if weakened by fear, the healthy function of the kidney is adversely affected. It’s safe to say that a global pandemic can feed into fears of all sorts. The pandemic exacerbated loneliness for many people. It’s highly likely the Yang Water influence for this year will not be helpful. At a time emotions are already at a high pitch for many reasons, energy that is tied to the emotions and strong like a tsunami, tidal wave, riptide, or hurricane can negatively influence mental health. The most important thing to remember is to take care of yourself. Reach out for help if fear, loneliness, or depression are an issue for you. Frequently check on others who may be alone during this stressful time. Seeking help for your mental health is as normal and essential as seeking help from a doctor if you broke your arm.

The Venerable Thich Nhat Hahn on fear:
Fear keeps us focused on the past or worried about the future.
If we can acknowledge our fear, we can realize that right now we are okay.
Right now, today, we are still alive, and our bodies are working marvelously.
Our eyes can still see the beautiful sky.
Our ears can still hear the voices of our loved ones.

The virtue housed in the Kidneys is Wisdom. Wisdom helps us overcome fear. In the Five-element cycle, Metal feeds Water, thus Metal’s virtue of Integrity helps us gain Wisdom.

As is previously mentioned, one’s personal BaZi (Four Pillars) natal chart will reveal most aspects of your health, both strengths and weaknesses, and should be consulted in depth before a plan is made for health considerations. The overriding maxim safely followed for everyone is that health will vary from year to year and the yearly energy influences will play a part in how your body responds positively or negatively. Too much Water energy in a year may be great for the person whose Four Pillars have too much dryness and heat, while that same energy can be devastating for the person who already has too much cold, damp and dark. Bear in mind also that health will be affected by the seasons and your internal meridians run full or empty based on the hours of the day. These are called circadian rhythms in Western medicine. It’s said knowledge is power, so please use this information to your own benefit!

WEATHER AND THE ENVIRONMENT

This year, Tiger’s Wood Element controls Earth, making the Earth Element fairly weak. This can lead to calamities involving the earth – earthquakes, mudslides, or calamities involving mines. Since Fire is hidden inside Tiger, it can indicate subterranean fires in mining areas or eruption of volcanoes.

In Chinese cosmology, the weather is a heavenly influence and with a Yang Water Element year, one can expect water events like hurricanes, tsunamis, and flooding. There are many parts of the earth that desperately need water. We can hope the Water elements express as needed water in these areas rather than water-related disasters.

ECONOMIC OUTLOOK

We’ve already discussed how the fire element in the year’s energetic make-up will contribute to optimism, happiness and positivity. Fire or warmth is also needed for growth and we can expect growth and recovery in the economy. To determine where there will be economic growth or not, one needs to look at the relationships of the Five Elements and their respective industries to understand who will benefit and who will not.

The Element that is controlled is said to be the Money Element. That said, Water controls Fire. So Fire industries, sales, PR, Marketing, Oil, Law, fashion, insurance, chemical processes, and civil service will benefit from the energy of Yang Water (2022’s Heavenly Stem). This influence will be mitigated by the fact that Fire is only found in the Human influence of the year and unsupported by Heavenly and Earthly energies.

Likewise, Tiger’s Wood element controls Earth. Therefore, industries that have to do with Earth will prosper. This includes real estate, land development, construction, sports, the food industry, mining, insurance, computer software, pottery, and technology.

Fire is weak and is Water’s Wealth Element. The power or Ren Water will assist water industries somewhat, but the best prognosis would be for a strong wealth element. Since Fire is weak this year, Water industries have little support. They include therapy, music, media, manufacturing, literature, doctors, arts, advertising, Communications, Advertising.

Wood is strong this year, and Wood is Metal’s wealth element. These industries include fashion, media, textiles, paper, books, restaurants, transport, training, hospitals, electronics, filming, and the environment. However, this heavy, strong Wood can result in serious competition in these industries and some will succumb to the challenge.

A LOOK BACK AT HISTORY

It’s sometimes useful to look back at history to years with the same Stems and Branches to perceive patterns. There will be some consistent patterns in other Tiger years, but the strongest similarities will be in Yang Water Tiger years of the past. This means sixty and one hundred twenty years ago.
